WHAT IF I WANT TO CHANGE SCHOOLS IN THE MIDDLE OF A SEMESTER?
SACA is an "open entry" or "open enrollment" school. This means that students are welcome to enroll at any point during the school year. Your coursework begins once you have completed the enrollment/registration process and orientation.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST ATTEND SACA?
Nothing! Southern Arizona Community Academy is TUITION FREE. SACA provides all of the benefits of a smaller school, and it costs nothing to you. The Academy is a public high school funded by the state of Arizona.
HOW IS SACA DIFFERENT FROM OTHER SCHOOLS?
A student only focus on one or two courses at a time, working at his/her own pace with faculty available for personal coaching.
WILL I BE GETTING A GED OR AN ACTUAL HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA?
A student will receive his/her high school diploma after completing the state-mandated graduation requirements.
WHO WILL BE SUCCESSFUL AT SACA?
A student who is self-disciplined and interested in working toward academic mastery.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE ADVANTAGES OF ATTENDING SACA?
Once a student has begun to make progress in his/her academic skill development, he/she can attend Pima Community College classes. The Academy will pay for up to twenty college credits (approved academic or career classes). Students may take foreign language, culinary arts, machining technology, etc. Students will receive credit at SACA as well.
SACA also provides an accelerated, gifted program for high school students who want a more rigorous, college prep education.
The individualized style of teaching and learning at SACA is an incredible tool for college-bound students. Students learn the skills of management and self-discipline - two skills that are necessary for success in college.
WHAT IS THE STAFF LIKE?
Our highly-qualified staff teaches languages, special education, gifted education, composition, literature, second-language learning, mathematics, sciences, social studies, technology, and career development. The staff has varied academic backgrounds and are educators committed to helping youth achieve lifelong goals!
WHAT OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE AT SACA?
Students may attend plays, opera, symphony, ballet, and field trips. They may compete in competitions: Arizona Stock Market Simulation, Odyssey of the Mind, Future Problem Solvers, Community Problem Solvers, basketball, sports, etc.
WHAT IF I DON'T LIVE BY THE SCHOOL AND DON'T HAVE A CAR YET?
No problem. SACA will provide you with bus passes on Sun Tran so that you will be able to get to and from school!
