Future Problem Solvers 2004-2005

Congratulations to the FPS team for an outstanding season!!!

Sabrina Wiley finished third in the world at the 2004 Future Problem-Solving International Competition held in Lexington, Kentucky on June 3-6, 2004.

State Finals: 1st Place

Teams learn to work together to reach a common goal. Teamwork encourages students to reflect on their own strengths and to evaluate their individual roles on the team.  Each student is encouraged to work to his or her best ability to further the goals of the team.  In this process students learn responsibility, diplomacy, sportsmanship, self-reflection and awareness, and organizational skills.

Included in the program is a presentation of action plan skit in which the team creates, organizes, and performs a skit that represents the plan of action developed in the problem solving process. In competition students have limited time to prepare; specific resources that must be used to create props and costumes; and a quote that must be incorporated into their dialogue.  This requires students to think creatively and quickly to produce a polished skit with dialogue and creative props and staging.  In performing the skit students are also exposed to public speaking, and presenting.
