Walking Tour of Downtown and Sentinel Peak

Our beautiful town is rich with history, and there is no better way to experience it than to walk the streets of historic downtown.  Our journey begins up at Sentinel Peak as we try to imagine what the valley looked like 6,000 years ago and discuss how the peak got its name.  Next we drive down to the Arizona Museum of Art to look at an authentic replica house that would have been common in the 1800s.  We then stroll down Main Street looking at the old houses that once belonged to some of the founding members of our town.  This field trip connects commonly heard names to the places they lived and encourages feelings of pride and interest in our community.
