Student Conduct


Whether in school, at home, or in the workplace, we all perform best when we know what is expected of us. To that end, Southern Arizona Community Academy has clearly stated expectations of student behavior on campus, in the lobby, and in the classroom. These procedures are printed below to help students create an environment that is conducive to maintaining our library setting and promote success.

Lobby Procedures:

Students Should:

  • Comply with requests from office staff, instructional staff, and principals.
  • Enter the lobby quietly.
  • Use the restroom and drinking fountain before clocking in.
  • Approach the front desk quietly, clock in, and receive a seating assignment card. Do not loiter in the lobby or office.
  • Enter the classroom quietly. Students must avoid giving high fives, hugs, or greetings to other students.
  • When clocking out for the day, you MUST quietly exit the classroom, stand in the check-out line, hand your seating card to the staff member clocking students out, and wait until the staff member lets you know you are allowed to leave. Students must avoid giving high fives, hugs, or greetings to other students.
Lobby Phone Policies:
  • Students are not allowed to use the lobby phone except in the case of an emergency or after completing five hours.
  • Students must obtain permission from the office staff.
  • Except in the case of an emergency, a message will be taken for all inbound phone calls.
Classroom Procedures:

Students Should:

  • Enter the classroom quietly. Students must avoid giving high fives, hugs, or greetings to other students.
  • Proceed directly to assigned seat and sit down.
  • Set daily goal and record clock-in time on the goal sheet.
  • Place seating assignment card up on the card stand to request an instructor to check daily goal.
  • While waiting for an instructor to come, begin working toward academic goal.
  • Refrain from talking to maintain library setting.
  • Stay on task for the entire period in the classroom.
  • When leaving for the day, hand all materials, such as calculators, directly to an instructor.
  • Remember: hand seating assignment card to office staff when clocking out at the end of the day. PLEASE DO NOT:
    • DEFACE SEATING ASSIGNMENT CARDS.
    • TAKE SEATING ASSIGNMENT CARDS WITH YOU WHEN LEAVING THE ACADEMY.
  • Comply with requests from office staff, instructional staff, and principals.
Restroom Pass Procedures:

Students Should:

  • Ask an instructor to be placed on the restroom pass list.
  • Continue working until an instructor hands you the restroom pass.
  • Wait for an instructor to give you the restroom pass.
  • Be respectful of your time with the pass. There is a 5 minute limit.
  • Upon returning to assigned seating in the classroom, hand the restroom pass to an instructor.
Restroom Procedures:

Students Should:

  • Enter the restroom one at a time, not in groups.
  • Do not loiter in the restroom.
Study Guide Procedures:

Students Should:

  • Set measurable daily goal every day.
  • Follow the course syllabus.
  • Complete activities in the order given.
  • Ask an instructor to review and sign completed unit as soon as you finish.
  • Work with a variety of instructors.
  • Work on each given course daily.
  • ADHERE TO TARGET DATES.
West Side Computer Lab Procedures:

Students Should:

  • Take seating assignment card and all belongings into the computer lab.
  • Check in with the Teacher on Duty (T.O.D.) by showing study guide or principal note in order to verify computer lab use eligibility.
  • students must obtain a note from a principal to work on extra-curricular activities in the computer lab.
  • Turn in seating assignment card to T.O.D.
  • Proceed to the station assigned by the T.O.D.
  • Use personal password to log onto the computer.
  • Stay on task for the entire period in the computer lab.
  • Raise hand to request assistance from the T.O.D.
  • When work is completed, log off of the computer, collect belongings, and check out with the T.O.D., who will either re-issue the original seating assignment card or will issue a computer lab pass.
  • When returning to the classroom, the student with a computer lab pass must report to the lobby, turn the computer lab pass into the front desk clerk who will then issue another seating assignment card.
  • If issued a computer lab pass and students must leave for a break or for the day, they may turn the computer lab pass into the front desk clerk who will then clock them out.
  • Comply with requests from office staff, instructional staff, or principals.
ID Card Procedures

Students Should:

  • Obtain SACA ID card by the second day of school from a staff member.
  • Bring SACA ID card to school daily.
  • Go on lunch/break only at assigned time.
  • Keep SACA ID card in the same condition as received.
  • See Mrs. Carpenter about a replacement ID card or changing ID break schedule.
Breakfast Procedures:

Students Should:

  • Upon arrival at school, report to the lunch area for breakfast.
  • Limit breakfast time to 15 minutes.
Lunch Procedures:

Students Should:

  • Continue working until a staff member announces lunch dismissal.
  • Quietly leave classroom with your ID in hand.
  • Quickly use the restroom and get a drink, if necessary.
  • Present ID card to school official.
  • Proceed to lunch area.
  • Present ID in order to receive lunch.
  • Return promptly and quietly to class.
Creating Your Future Procedures:
(Wednesdays from 9:45am-10:45 am and 1:30pm-2:30pm)

Students Should:

  • Wait to be dismissed by a staff member.
  • Quietly proceed to assigned location.
  • Follow instructions from your advisors.
Medication Procedures:

Students Should:

  • Ask an instructor to have his/her name placed on the lobby pass list.
  • Speak with an office staff member. Medication is only handed out by the office staff.
